LOS ANGELES, California, May 19, 2014 – SynTouch LLC, developer and maker of the only sensor technology in the world that endows robots with the ability to replicate – and sometimes exceed – the human sense of touch, is featured by SolidWorks in their Born To Design series.

“SynTouch’s mission is to provide Machine Touch™: both sensors and ways to use them to make intelligent decisions about the world, and how to handle objects in it” said Dr. Gerald Loeb, CEO at SynTouch. SynTouch is the world leader in tactile sensors for prosthetic and robotic hands, and is providing the ability for these hands to identify and react to what they are touching. “People are starting to realize that tactile sensing was an important sense and it was largely missing” said Loeb.

The SolidWorks Born to Design video features the design process to create sensors for Prosthetic hands. Other SolidWorks featured designers include engineers, designers, and part-time inventors, with a desire to discover and build products the world didn’t even know it needed. Diverse teams are recognized including building electric motorcycles, underwater turbines, and humanoid robotics manufactured by Aldebaran Robotics.
